The ASEAN Institute for Peace and Reconciliation (ASEAN-IPR) was established as an action line under Provision B.2.2 of the APSC Blueprint (2010-2015), which aims to strengthen research activities on peace, conflict management and conflict resolution.

The ASEAN-IPR is mandated to be ASEAN’s institution focusing on peace, conflict management and conflict resolution. The Institute has five functions to fulfil its role, with strong emphasis in promoting a culture of peace in the region.

The ASEAN-IPR’s structure has three main bodies – Governing Council, Advisory Board and Executive Director as head of the Secretariat.

The AWPR is a means to take stock of women experts in peace processes, and the first manifestation of the ASEAN-IPR’s pool of experts.

ASEAN-IPR and CMI Introductory Training on Conflict Analysis and Conflict Resolution

The ASEAN-IPR and CMI – Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation organised the second iteration of the Introductory Training on Conflict Analysis and Conflict Resolution in Jakarta, Indonesia. The programme also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two institutions to strengthen their cooperation.
ASEAN-IPR Launches Regional Initiative to Prevent Violent Radicalisation Among Youth

On 6 April 2026, ASEAN-IPR launched the ASEAN-IPR Course: Preventing Violent Radicalization among the Youth at the ASEAN Headquarters/Secretariat. The course aims to address gaps in regional efforts, particularly the limited availability of comprehensive and comparable data on youth radicalization across ASEAN.
ASEAN-IPR Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Training Module 3.5

More than 24 participants from government institutions and civil society organizations (CSOs) took part in the ASEAN-IPR WPS Training Module 3.5 in Jakarta, Indonesia. The training focused on how the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) and Youth, Peace and Security (YPS) agendas can be applied to address regional challenges.
ASEAN-IPR & KAICIID Training on Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue for ASEAN Officials

From 1-5 December 2025, ASEAN-IPR and KAICIID conducted the third iteration of the Training on Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue for ASEAN Officials in Manila, Philippines.
